Immigration Legal Assistance

  • Assists MAC-appointed attorneys in all matters related to clients with immigration consequences
  • Keeps MAC-appointed attorneys apprised of legislative changes and emerging issues in the field of immigration law

Do you need an immigration advisal?

The MAC has an Immigration Attorney available to assist with Padilla advisals, consultation, and immigration resource referrals.

  • Complete Immigration Request Form
  • Immigration attorney will confirm and request additional information if needed.

Immigration Advisal Intake Form (Separate from the Immigration Referral Form):

Attorneys may use this intake form (fillable if downloaded) to gather key information about a client’s immigration situation to support preparation of the written advisal. This form is especially helpful for clients in jail with a final order of removal, as our team is currently unable to conduct jail visits for these cases due to limited capacity. After completing the form, please email it to [email protected].

Please note that this form is not a substitute for the Immigration Referral Form; it is a supplemental tool.

Investigation Assistance

  • Ensures appropriate resources are available for investigation and case preparation
  • Provides training related to investigative defense services like collecting or preserving evidence and locating or interviewing witnesses are available upon request

Do you need an Investigator?

  • Complete Investigation Request Form
    If you are unaware of MAC funds previously used ($800 Cap/Lifetime of Client), the information can be found after completing the Investigator Request form.
  • Chief Investigator will assign and email you with Investigator name within two business days.
  • Once assignment is complete, your Investigator will send you their invoice for vouchering in ViPS.

Social Work Services

The goal of the MAC social work team is to address clients’ underlying needs and issues to drive better life and legal outcomes.

  • MAC Social Workers connect clients to community supportive services. This can include substance use treatment, mental health services, housing resources, identification cards, and basic needs.
  • MAC Social Workers also strategize with defense attorneys for plea negotiation and sentencing mitigation.
  • Our goal is to address our clients' underlying needs and issues to drive better life and legal outcomes.

Do you need a Social Worker?

  • Complete Social Worker Request Form on MAC website
    Social Work Request Form for Attorneys
  • Social Work Supervisor will email you regarding any additional information needed and assign a social worker to the case
  • Assigned Social Worker will make contact with you
