TRIALS & TRAINING SERVICES

The MAC Office is committed to providing MAC-appointed attorneys with case coordination, client resources, litigation support, and skill development for their appointed cases.

RESOURCE ATTORNEYS

  • Serves as the primary liaison, on behalf of MAC-appointed attorneys, between the MAC Office and the individual criminal district courts and/or county courts at law
  • Assists MAC-appointed attorneys with trainings/CLEs and problem resolution in discovery, litigation, and trial issues
  • Monitors and ensures attorney compliance with MAC requirements and expectations associated with appointment

HOLISTIC SERVICES

INVESTIGATION ASSISTANCE

  • Ensures appropriate resources are available for investigation and case preparation
  • Provides trainings related to investigative defense services like collecting or preserving evidence and locating or interviewing witnesses are available upon request

IMMIGRATION LEGAL ASSISTANCE

  • Assists MAC-appointed attorneys in all matters related to clients with immigration consequences
  • Keeps MAC-appointed attorneys apprised of legislative changes and emerging issues in the field of immigration law

SOCIAL WORK SERVICES

The goal of the MAC social work team is to address clients’ underlying needs and issues to drive better life and legal outcomes.

  • Assists clients by connecting them to community supportive services
  • Strategizes with defense attorneys to plan for plea negotiation and sentencing mitigation

The MAC Office organizes free Continuing Legal Education for MAC-appointed attorneys.  Please let us know if you have suggestions, comments, or questions related to CLEs by clicking this link.
